Actually, it makes sense for it to work this way, so the real question is why did it never need the password before? I suppose it's possible that I mistyped (twice!) when upgrading but I think it's more likely there's been some sort of corruption with this password and it transfer to the registry.Any This seems to be a change. Solved! No, you do not have to supply a password if you were just listing the cacerts file with "keytool -list -v". We were told this problem would be solved in Java 1.4 because SSL would be bundled into the SDK and the classes would move to standard packages - which they did.
